How to use teamology
Teamology was written with the aim of helping team members
make the best contribution to the team that they are a part
of or are involved with.
Just take a moment to check out the team you are a part of.
What could you do that would improve the results or make the
team a better place to be? I am sure there are several things
that you are aware of now and possibly a few that you are
not. A greater understanding of teamology will further open
your eyes to the possibilities that exist.
You might do nothing different, you may go and give a colleague
a bit of support or ...
Who does this stuff apply to? - It applies to everyone, whether
you are the most senior person in a massive organisation or
the most junior person. Each person can make a contribution.
Generally speaking the most senior person may have the most
influence and therefore the most to be gained from thinking
about teamology however I wouldn't dismiss the contribution
of everyone else in the team, not only do lots of little actions
add up to big results but sometimes tiny actions can have
a massive impact. If ever you have stacked logs you will know
that moving one small log at the bottom of the pile can change
the shape of the whole pile just like that. Not only can people
in the team have an impact, customers and suppliers can. As
a customer, providing the information that you were asked
for when placing order can save hours of chasing around inside
the company.
So why would you want to do any of this teamology stuff.
My answer to that is that you will do it if you care, it may
be at a cost to yourself and with no benefit, or it may be
a small cost to yourself and a great benefit, well whether
you do it or not will depend upon you, but if you want to
do it, have been searching for how to make a difference for
whatever reason, then I hope there is something here that
can contribute to your mission.
So this is written for everyone
